On Monday, October 12th, my Chrissy Pooh turned 18!!! It seems like only yesterday I was sitting in the lobby area of UVA hospital holding her in my arms and waiting for Robert to drive the car around so we could take our little family home. I looked at her tiny little hands and feet in amazement, and prayed I wouldn't break her because she looked so delicate and fragile. Robert and I didn't know how we were going to do it, but we knew we loved each other more than life itself, and the rest would all fall into place…and, it did!
Having a child makes you re-evaluate life, re-prioritize what's important to you. They challenge you, they make you realize your inner strength. They bring out the good in you. Christin was one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I love her with all my heart!
My, how time has flown! Chris is now a senior in high school, and thinking about colleges. MIT and VA Tech top the list. She is computer savvy, excelling in the Cisco program at CCTC, and has a job in the computer section of Best Buy. She is gorgeous, intelligent, and has a very bright future. Most importantly to me, she is my best friend and always will be!
So, like any good Mother, I had to take Chris out to our favorite Mexican restaurant, have them put a giant sombero on her head, slather whipped cream on her face, and sing happy birthday to her. And, yes, she is still speaking to me.
Well, sorta…
