12 Days of Christmas at Passionately Artistic

In celebration of our 12 Days of Handcraft Christmas over at Passionately Artistic I did a step-by-step tutorial on how to make an elegant and easy calendar that would be perfect for gift giving! I've even included a PDF template of the calendar pages for printing. It doesn't get much easier! Click here to go to the tutorial. Note** When printing the template be sure to cut your paper to 5 1/2" x 11" first, and change your printer page settings to 5 1/2" (width) x 11" (height) LANDSCAPE. Enjoy!

Christmas Cottage

Those of you who are my Facebook friends (and if you aren't you should be!) you may have read my post about buying a glue gun and Bob hijacking it from me before I even used it. I was entirely too excited about him wanting to do something crafty to really care. I think he sees me spending hours of my time creating things, and the joy that it brings me. I believe he wanted to see what all the hoopla was about. Well, he found out, and now he's hooked!! Yep, I've created a monster. He spent two solid days working on what was supposed to be a simple gingerbread house for the kids. I think it's more of a Christmas Cottage, or maybe a scaled replica of our dream vacation home.

If you think it looks impressive wait until you hear how he made it. He started with ordinary 12×12 chipboard that I have in my shop, cut out a design, hot glued it together, and painted it with white acrylic paint. Next, he hot glued the shingles, which are Rips candy, to the roof. He whipped up royal icing to use as mortar for the peppermints that he used as stones for the foundation and chimney. He also piped icing on the porch roof and ground to simulate snow. He made sugar glass window panes by melting sugar and pouring it out into sheets. He used Twizzlers to tie tiny little bows on peppermint wreaths, and to outline the roof. He must be really, really tired!

Supplies Used:

Want2Scrap Ring Bound Album Bling and Baby Bling Pearls

Glue Dots Distress Ink

Doilies & Craft Envelopes Trims

Imaginisce Christmas Cottage 12×12 papers, stickers, rub-ons, and flowers

How To:

1. Paint the chipboard pages with white acrylic paint.

2. Lightly inked all the edges of the pages, front and back, with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink.

3. Glitter a doilie for the front cover, and add Imaginisce flowers with lots and lots of Want2Scrap Bling encompassed in Baby Bling Pearls!

4. Cut Imaginisce Cottage Christmas papers to 6" x 6" and rounded the corners for the inside pages. Adhere with Glue Dots.

5. Embellish!

Tip: I added rub-ons that I glammed up with Baby Bling Pearls.

What a wonderful way to commemorate the holidays! Do you have a family tradition you'll be scrapping this holiday season? Every year we get all of the kids together to build a gingerbread house. We put on Christmas carols, build, and eat frosting and cookies until we feel sick:) Happy holidays from our family to yours!

Fancy Pants Blog Feature

I'm so excited, and honored, to be feature on the Fancy Pants Designs blog today. Road Show is definitely an all-time favorite collection of mine, which is what I used in the featured layout. All of their products are absolutely amazing! Their papers are thick, quality paper, and I just love working with the notebook journals, sticker sheets, brads, buttons, and flocked transparencies…love 'em!
